Instructor: Susan Martin
Sunday, August 9th, 2026 / 11am-5pm
In this one day workshop we will dive head first into making and printing copper plates utilizing traditional drypoint intaglio methods. After an introduction to the technique, participants will receive a small prepared copper plate and tools for drawing. I will demonstrate the basics of mark making using different tools and materials. In the latter part of the afternoon we will move onto inking and printing our plates on an etching press. Students will walk away with a small set of printed works. Open to artists of all levels, no experience needed.
No experience necessary. All materials included. Students can either bring a sketch to work from or chose to work directly on their plate without a preplanned drawing. Copper plate size is approximately 4in x 5in.
This workshop will take place at Triangle Printmakers Collective: 1002 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604
Participants will receive an email about a week out with more details regarding parking, directions, and details about the day.
Skill Level: All levels
